Transforming the Australian food system

Background

CSIRO (Australia’s National Science Agency) sought views on a Discussion Paper to inform the development of an “Australian Food Systems Roadmap” (the Roadmap). The Roadmap is intended to help guide the sustainable transformation that is necessary across Australia’s food systems, and takes a systems lens looking at the entire food value chain and its many interacting systems. Our submission

GAP made a submission calling for: more focus on animal welfare; a deeper consideration of resilience to large-scale shocks, including diversity and scalability of food production; a dedicated research stream; and a new approach to food governance. You can read the full GAP submission here.
